March 2014

 March wasn't too eventful for us! We did a lot of spending time together at home! Here are a few pictures of Kallie being her cute self:

Kallie is getting so much better at playing with other kids, and just loves playing with them. Here are some of her cute little friends: (Jaden and Brielle giving her a big hug on the left. Kallie and Kenzie on the right)

 Having Daddy home is so much fun for Kallie. He is so sweet with her and they always do fun things together! She was able to spend some time with him on the rare occasions that I worked, and they had a blast together!

Kallie is getting more interested in what we are doing. She loves to play in my kitchen drawers and play with any of my baking/cooking supplies. Here she is "helping" me make sloppy joes for dinner:

It wouldn't be a day in the life of Kallie if she didn't put on as much jewelry as she can find:

We are so grateful to have so many wonderful friends here in Indiana! We were lucky enough to make it down to the Louisville temple with the Carlson's this month:

It's amazing how time flies when you have a kid! I can't believe our little love is already 18 months old! She's still off of the bottom of the charts for weight (she weighed 20 pounds at her checkup, but she got sick a couple of times and dropped a pound or two after her appointment), and is in the 10th percentile for weight. Here she is at her 18 month checkup:

Unfortunately I didn't do too well in keeping track of cute Kallie moments/achievements this month, but I did write down a few little things:

• New words include: 'pretty', 'bird', 'feet', and 'love you'
• Learned how to "bump it", and still loves to "high five" people
• Loved when it was warm enough to be outside
• Hair is long enough to put into pig-tails!
• Started going to nursery at church!!!



It's always a great day when it's warm enough to play outside!

February 2014

We had a great start to February this year! We found out on February 1st that Kallie is going to be a big sister! (So of course, we had to go and get her a t-shirt so we could tell our families!)

 

I threw a little baby shower for my friend, Brittany later that afternoon. I love how the treats turned out, especially the cookies! (Thanks Brittany for teaching me how to do fondant!)

We had some crazy snow storms this year! Mike had to do a TON of shoveling! He shoveled this huge pile of snow (and would keep adding to it when it snowed more) and then dug out a snow fort/tunnel for he and Kallie to play in. The bottom right picture is how he kept Kallie entertained while he would go out and shovel all of the snow (she liked being able to watch Mike, and liked being able to get up and go out and play in the snow with Dad when she wanted to.)

Kallie and I decided we would go up to Chicago with Mike this month. He had a dental convention, so we thought it would be fun to go see Aunt Lori and Uncle Greg. Unfortunately we were only at Greg and Lori's for maybe an hour before Kallie started throwing up. We stayed the night, but she was still pretty sick, so I decided to take her home so we didn't get anyone else sick; thankfully she didn't throw up at all in the car, but she did throw up on my carpet about 5 minutes after getting home. She was pretty sick for 3 days (and lost a couple of pounds), and all she wanted to do was lay in bed with me. It's so sad to her sick, but I sure loved the snuggles I got from her.

I decided I'm going to start trying to keep track of new developments that Kallie has each month, or just cute things she does, so here is what I wrote down to remember February (and a few more fun and cute pictures of this little girl who has stolen our hearts):

• Kallie learned how to slide down her slide on her tummy
• Loved watching the figure skating of the Winter Olympics, and started spinning in circles/twirling after watching the figure skaters
• Has discovered that her maraca's make nose, and loves to carry them around and shake them
• Loves talking on her play cell phone
• Learned how to tickle mom and dad's necks
• Can stack her blocks 6 blocks high, then loves to knock the tower over after she's stacked them (or loves to knock over any tower that mom or dad try to make)
• New words include "doll" and "no", but her favorite word is "duck"
• Got 2 more teeth this month (her K9s), and is now up to 14 teeth!
• Loves to have "nakey" (diaper) time at night before bed, and tries to take off her own clothes sometimes

Kallie loves when Daddy comes home! She loves sitting in the baby bumbo, and climbing on the table. She certainly keeps us entertained and busy!

Kallie still loves books and watching Little Einsteins/Rio on the iPad. It's always a happy day when it's warm enough to be outside for a little while. She loved playing with a baby doll she found, and sliding on her slide. She also learned how to color on the walls when we were out to lunch at Olive Garden with friends one day!

Kallie certainly has some of the Merkley sleeping genes in her. She will fall asleep if she feels like it's time (the middle picture is a photo my friend sent me while she was babysitting Kallie for me---she said Kallie went and laid in the corner, put her blanket over her head, and fell asleep for an hour! When she woke up, she didn't make a noise. She just got up and started playing again!)
