Kallie's birthday definitely was the highlight of September! We had a fun rest of the month though! I'll do most of the summing up with pictures!

Just some fun Kallie pictures: Eating pizza (her favorite), resting with her legs crossed, playing with her shapes, in Dad's spot on the couch, and watching TV from the tv stand.

I had a fun time going to Brown County with my Relief Society one Saturday. Such fun ladies, and a fun day of shopping and walking around!

Kallie loves to "check the mail" with Mom and Dad; crashed out after church; playing on her new zebra; and just 'taking a rest' by the stairs when she got tired.

Kallie is such a happy girl! She makes us laugh every day. She loves to sit on the landing on our stairs and throw a ball down to us, and we throw it back up to her. She still loves reading (and usually wants to read the same book again and again, until you are sick of it). She loves to hear music, or have us sing--and she loves to dance. She is so smart and wonderful! We just love her to pieces!

Kallie's Birthday!

I can't believe my baby is already 1! Where did the time go? It has been such a wonderful year! Kallie has blessed our lives in more ways than we can count! Here she is on her birthday:

Here are some stats and fun facts about my little Kallie:

Weight: 16 lbs. 8 oz. (just below the charts)
Height: 28 3/8 inches (15th percentile)

Diaper size: 2

Clothing size: 6 Month
5 teeth (1 coming soon)
She is such a happy girl, and loves giving people a cheesy grin. She is friendly, and loves to wave and smile at people in the store. She is smart and determined, once she decides she wants something, she is not easily distracted and tries very hard to get what she wants. She is decisive; she decided that she is done with baby food, and can tell me what she does or doesn't want to eat (shakes her head no). She violently shakes her head no when she doesn't want something; and when she's done with whatever she is holding, she throws it as far away from her as she can.  If she is holding something (like food) and she doesn't want to set it down, she will still crawl around, but she will crawl on her wrists. She still loves to climb, dance, and read. She has a pretty long attention span for her age. She likes to laugh when you laugh. She does a silly smile and scrunches her nose at you. She will crawl away as fast as she can when Mike growls at her. She is naturally good-natured and calm; I stopped nursing her after her birthday, and she has had an easy transition. There are just too many fun things to document them all! We love this little girl so much!

I decided to throw a little Pretty Pink Princess party for Kallie with some of Kallie's friend's (and their mom's). Here are some pictures of her on party day:

Opening birthday presents. Everything Kallie got was so cute and so fun! She loved everything! Thank you so much to everyone who came and gave her a gift!

Cake Time! Kallie loved eating the cake...as long as I was feeding it to her on a spoon. I tried to push her hands in the cake, but she didn't want to touch it. She yelled at me any time I stopped feeding her. (Top Right: I ate about 3 bites of the cake, she ate the rest of it!)

Kallie had a great time at her party! She was pretty messy after eating her cake.

I rinsed her off in the sink after she was done with cake, and obviously she was not too happy about it.

Happy Birthday Kallie! We love you, and are so happy to have you in our life! You bring us so much joy! We look forward to many more wonderful years with you!

Pappy and DeeDee Visit (Aug/Sept 2013)

We love when my parents are able to come and visit us! We always have a fun time! Here we all are at the Children's Museum:

My parents wanted to go to the BYU Football season opener at Virginia, since it was only an 8 hour drive from here. So we went with them! We love BYU football and were glad to join in on the fun! Kallie was a champ on the car ride. We put Rio on our iPad and she was a happy camper:

Our first day in Virginia, we stopped at Monticello (Thomas Jefferson's home). His house was on the top of a hill (we all thought it was going to be a lot more flat). It was really pretty! We took a tour of the home (but you can't take pictures in the house, so we only have pictures on the grounds). The top left and bottom pictures are a shot of the back of his house, which is on the back side of a nickel; and the top left picture is a shot of the front of the house:

 There was a beautiful, HUGE tree in the front of the house. The branches were so interesting, so we took a picture of it! Top Right: Kallie drinking DeeDee's water (she LOVES drinking out of water bottles). Bottom Right: Us with a Thomas Jefferson statue:

The next day was GAME DAY!!! (BYU Cheerleader outfit, courtesy of Chris and Rachel Merk. Super cute BYU shoes, courtesy of Pappy.) Here are some game day pictures (and a picture of Kallie wathching TV with DeeDee):

 Before the BYU game, we were able to go and see Montpelier (home of James Madison). We didn't have too much time before the game, so we didn't take a tour of the house, but walked around the outside of his house/plantation.

We wanted to go and see campus before the game. UVA was founded by Thomas Jefferson (it's only about 3 miles away from his house/plantation, so he watched them build it from his house, and if something wasn't going how he wanted it, he would race down and tell them how he wanted them to build it). Top pictures are in front of the main building, and the bottom pictures are of The Lawn:

GAME DAY!!! (Kallie learned to clap at her first BYU Football game!)

This was one of the most interesting football games we will probably ever go to. After the first quarter, they had to evacuate everyone out of their seats because of a lightning storm warning. Kallie was already exhausted by this point, because it was past her afternoon nap time, and our car was 2 miles away, so we decided we would just stay under the ramps until the game started again. Thankfully we brought our iPad, so we turned Kallie's movie on, and she fell asleep in Mike's arms. It started to rain, so he put his hat over her face to protect her. Unfortunately, we didn't discover until after Kallie had fallen asleep, there was a big drain right above where Mike and Kallie were sitting. (You can see the rain dumping through it in the bottom middle picture below) So Mike had to stand with her while the rain poured down. 

The rain delay lasted about 2 hours. Kallie only slept for about 30 minutes, and was getting pretty bored and sick of being held, so we went and found an open building on campus and let Kallie crawl around for a while. While we were waiting, we overheard some guys talking about how there were two more big storm clouds heading our way, so we weren't sure that the game was ever going to be resumed. Thankfully it did resume (like I said before, it was a 2 hour delay) so we went back to our seats and watched the second quarter. During the rain delay, they shut down all the concessions and sent most of the workers home, so half time was packed with people trying to get food. Mike was in line for food for about an hour, and a lot of the food was sold out. Then it started pouring rain again as the third quarter started. We found some trash bags that we made into make-shift ponchos, and made our way back to our car and listened to the game on our way back to the hotel. It was a crazy game with all of the weather, but we had a lot of fun sight-seeing and being with my parents! We are so glad we went!

We stopped for lunch on our drive back from Virginia, and Kallie was SO happy to be out of the car for a bit. Here she is climbing in the window sill: 

 For Labor Day, we decided to take a trip to the zoo. It was really overcast that morning, so it was a great temperature, and it seems like the animals are happier when the sun isn't out and scorching hot! Here we are feeding the birds (Kallie wanted to touch them all! And one landed on Pappy's shoulder, then climbed onto his head!):

We had such a wonderful time with my parents and are so glad that they were able to come and visit us! I wish Kallie lived closer to Grandparents, because she always has so much fun with them while they are here! Thanks Mom and Dad! We love you!

August 2013

On August 1, Mike and I celebrated our 6th Anniversary! We have had many wonderful experiences over these 6 years, but Kallie is definitely the highlight of our time together! Our friends, the Carlson's, watched Kallie for an evening while we went out to dinner to celebrate! Happy 6th Anniversary:

Kallie continues to make me laugh every day. On our shopping trip at Target, she figured out how to turn around in her seat, silly girl:

Kallie and I had a little girls outing one day when I had to take my car into the shop to get worked on. We ate lunch at Chili's, then went to the mall and Kallie played in the little kids area. She had a lot of fun, and kept trying to climb up the slide over and over, and it was the first time she ever went down a slide. The car ended up taking a lot longer than expected, so Kallie finally crashed in her stroller; but I love the picture of her in the middle--just hanging out while we waited.

This is one of my favorite pictures of Kallie this month; Kallie was over at the Cutler's house, and Camille got a great picture of her climbing this little car garage:

Top Left: Mike hardly ever puts Kallie in her crib to sleep! I came home from a YW Presidency meeting to find her on the floor asleep! I have enjoyed the last 3 years that I've been able to serve in the Young Women's organization at church. Every August we play a softball tournament together. Here is the team from this year (I sure love all these girls/ladies):

Kallie had a lot of fun with friends this month:

Kallie was very concerned when Peyton started fussing in her carseat, and had to go check everything out and make sure she was okay.

We love spending time with Brittany and Ella! Kallie took her first ride in Ella's wagon, and we made a little trip to the pet store (another first for Kallie). She loved playing with Ella's train. And we love going to the zoo together!

July 2013

July was another fun month with our cute Kallie! We too a lot of pictures! So, I'll let the pictures do most of the talking!

Here we are on the 4th of July (Right picture is Mike and Kallie with her friend Aria). This was the week that Kallie started dancing a lot -- bouncing up and down, swinging her arms, body rolls, etc. It was so funny and so cute! We love our dancing girl!

Some of the things Kallie loved this month: Eating ice cream for the first time, taking walks, standing up wherever she could, and playing with the TV remote.

We were lucky enough to have Grandfather and Grammie come and visit us for a few days! We always love when they come to visit. We had a lot of fun taking them to the Children's Museum, going to the store, and going out to eat. Kallie loves all of the songs that they sing to her; and loved playing with them every day! We love you guys!

 Kallie had a rough few days in the middle of the month. We knew she was allergic to grass, but we didn't really know how allergic.  Mike took Kallie to the park with some friends, and let her crawl around in the grass for an hour. The next morning we woke up to a red spotted baby. She was surprisingly pleasant the 3 or 4 days that these spots stayed around:

Poor thing, I think the saddest part was her swollen eyes!

Kallie loves to hold a spoon while she's eating. This particular day, I didn't have a spoon for her to play with, so she wanted the spoon I was feeding her with. I eventually let her have the spoon, and this is what lunch turned into:

Kallie is still such a climber. She wants to climb on anything! She loves her blankey, and wants to have it with her all the time. She's so happy, and likes to try and play X-Box like Dad:

I love watching the TV Show Cake Boss--Mike can always tell when I've been watching it, because I usually end up making cupcakes or a treat after watching. Mike heard at school that Cake Boss was going to be in Indianapolis giving away 5,000 free cakes. I've always said I wanted a cake from Buddy, so I convinced my friend, Camille, to come downtown with us to get free cake! We got there about 45 minutes early, and the line was already crazy! Once they started handing out cakes, the line moved pretty fast, and thankfully we each got a cake! Here are some pictures from our Cake Boss event:

My amazing friend Brittany (Stackowicz) makes the cutest sugar cookies ever! She uses fondant instead of frosting, and they always look amazing! I asked her to teach me, and she agreed! Thanks Britt! Here are the cookies we made:
